Thanks for sharing, Philip! I do feel very lucky to have had this professor. And I think the notion of separation is a very interesting way to consider abortion ethics; I think the big question is still, at what point is that separation truly fulfilled?

And I think you are right on some level about the tenuous connection between women’s rights and abortion— but in my mind that’s mainly because it feels foolish to accuse pro-life women of being inherent anti-woman because they see the ethics of abortion differently (though conversely, I can definitely empathize with the feeling that people not allowing women autonomy over their bodies and ostensibly forcing them into pregnancy are also not necessarily beacons of women’s liberation).
