Thank you so much for the kind words, E! You definitely have the right to an opinion, and that's the beauty of Israel being a free country where all are welcome to criticize leaders.
I think of the nature of critique as being similar to how people criticized Obama during his tenure -- as we all remember, there were some flagrantly racist "criticisms" of Obama that were not real criticisms, but instead excuses to tout racist stereotypes; and there were also and continue to be valid criticisms about how we did as a president, regardless of his identity.
I think that's the fine line we have to draw, and most of the time, I think it's a clearer line than we would think; maybe where it gets fuzzy is when we feel so much anger that it starts crossing into hatred, and I think as the old song goes "We're all just a little bit racist," there's some unsavory biases that can creep into our brains when we feel that heightened emotion towards someone, even if their identity had nothing to do with what triggered the anger.
Filtering that to our best ability is, I think, the best way we can hone in on where reasonable criticism sits, versus stereotyping/prejudice.
But yes, absolutely agree, war is ugly and depressing and heartbreaking beyond words; I hope we see a day in this lifetime where it ceases on all fronts.
Appreciate you and hope you're doing well!!
