Of Course, Ivy Leagues are Cesspools of Bigotry
The only thing “higher” about this education are levels of trust funds, entitlement and evil
Despite surprised reactions to the horrifically ignorant testimonies of university presidents from Harvard, U Penn, and MIT during a congressional hearing about campus antisemitism on December 5th, I don’t think there’s anything more quintessentially Ivy League — except for maybe Armie Hammer’s cannibal face rowing at Harvard in The Social Network.
I grew up with the Ivy Leagues placed high on a pedestal — none higher than Harvard, of course. Millennials watched in awe as “feminist” icon Elle Woods bended and snapped her way to the top of her class at Harvard Law School.
Hilary Duff works against all odds to fulfill her dreams of going to Princeton in Cinderella Story, and surprise! her sexy secret love Chad Michael Murray is going there too.
Most of the fabulously wealthy characters of Gossip Girl (in the books, which were very popular) went on to the Ivy Leagues of their choices. Nothing was more aspirational.
Why is it that these institutions of so-called “higher education” occupy such a reverent and dominating space in the American psyche?
