I’m really disappointed and disgusted by this article— and I used to find your writing somewhat interesting. First of all, you’re implying that Jewish self determination in our ancestral homeland — or maybe even just the right for Jews to exist (because Hamas’ original charter literally calls for the death of ALL Jews everywhere) is akin to owning slaves in your comparison.

Your incapacity to comprehend the nuance of this situation is evident in the way you have superimposed your own biased trauma as a literal “black and white” narrative in a region and conflict you don’t understand across the world, where Jews are literally white slave owners in this comparison, and Hamas is poor, innocent slaves who are understandably violently rebelling.

What good do you think you’ve contributed to this dialogue by implicitly evoking antisemitic blood libels against Jews and Israelis?

Even in the examples you seem to posit that warring against poisonous ideologies is allegedly never successful, you cite ISIS and the Taliban existing in any capacity as being “evidence” that war doesn’t work, but war was fought against nazism (which generally succeeded, though its ideologies are alive and well, including in your own writing!) and confederacy/slave ownership in America (which, white supremacy is alive and well here, and the 13th amendment still screws over prisoners, but slavery is not legal), and countless other ideologies that “terrorized” ideals of freedom and justice for all, and even if hateful ideologies persist, their inability to be institutionalized and inflicted onto the masses can be quelled.

But that would be way too many words and complicated concepts for an essay that could just be boiled down to you encouraging Hamas and its western proponents because you hate Jooz ;)
