I wish that was true šŸ˜« unfortunately, the hard left (especially the Marxist, socialist, and super ā€œprogressiveā€ leftists) has indeed very vocally been justifying 10/7 as ā€œresistanceā€ and ā€œdecolonizingā€ and ā€œfreedom fighting.ā€ I have lots of screenshots across multiple articles since 10/7 highlighting a number of influential, large accounts spewing this rhetoric, but Iā€™m also connected to a lot of students who have heard this firsthand on campus from students and professors alike.

The majority of activist spaces on the left have little to no empathy for Israeli victims, as they consider them ā€œsettlers on stolen land,ā€ and as the rallying cry goes, ā€œNo peace in stolen land.ā€ This is precisely why they refuse to even grieve the kids who attended the Nova music festivalā€” countless people have publicly, shamelessly accused those people of ā€œpartying next to a concentration campā€ and therefore deserving their fates. Countless people have literally justified the baby, Kfir, who was abducted and may be dead, on the basis that ā€œhe would someday join the IDF.ā€

I appreciate your optimism, but I promise you this is not an isolated experience. It is a widespread and extremely dangerous and disconcerting lack of empathy based solely on racism/antisemitism/xenophobia.
