Hi Kellen, excellent point! Actually, I didn't watch the full special--I only saw clips of these two (LGBTQ+ jokes and Jewish jokes) from articles/tweets I read. It wasn't until after I published this article that I found out about the Asian jokes, and my official stance on it is that that was actually THE WORST thing he said in the entire special--especially because almost every day Asian people are getting attacked (and this is not popular to say, but from what I've observed, it's been predominantly fueled by Black men. NOT to say that white people aren't extremely bigoted towards Asian people or that any other group isn't capable of doing that--but clearly there is animosity between Black and Asian communities right now and he is fueling that dangerously with those words).

But yes, if you go through my articles, you will find just as much passion advocating for Black and Brown people who have been victimized by mass incarceration, police brutality, and all the other ills of racism. I'm not fat but I write passionately and have written several articles about fatphobia, about racism in America (though I'm not Black/Native American/Latinx), and while I haven't specifically written about the violence against Asian people--quite specifically because I didn't think it was in "my lane" to be discussing attacks especially by Black men against Asian people, my partner did make a YouTube video passionately advocating against the onslaught of Asian hate, and I have promoted all kinds of Asian activists throughout the pandemic on my Instagram and FB whenever I've been active (which is less so these last two months due to other commitments). Moreover, I've tried to make donations and check on my Asian friends who I know have been hurting and scared, because no one should live in fear.

I could certainly edit the piece to include my thoughts on this, but I do think the point you made still holds true even without me adding that after hearing the additional words--he has carte blanche to say what he wants about model minorities and gets away with it. And there should be outcry about his verbal violence against LGBTQ+ people--this too is dangerous and he doesn't deserve a platform.

Anyways, the point is, I very much care about all human beings as much as I care about Jews. And I don't think it's unreasonable for us to wish that same care for each other, even those who aren't in our "in-group." Apparently not everyone functions like that, but I have receipts if you're trying to suggest that my feelings about how Jews are being treated in a time of peak antisemitism is just "my feelings" and that I shouldn't expect others to care. But I don't think that's what you're trying to say? If it is, I think you're dead wrong. But that's your prerogative!
