God forbid you insult people’s opinions! If people are racist, their opinions are valid and it’s mean to insult them!!!! Let everyone have their opinions even if it’s the year 1880 and their opinions are that everyone should have slaves!

Opinions have meaning and consequences when they are taken as core beliefs and actioned upon. Take for example, the violent Trump mobs that stormed the Capitol, which you blamed “people like me” for criticizing the very idea that opinions/cultural norms have meaning — clearly opinions, especially when considered in violent or potentially violent bubbles have very real consequences. And that is something we all need to be wary of. Ask Hannah Arendt or any Holocaust historian; it starts with “opinions” and rhetoric. That will always be the paradox of free speech. No one who likes Schitt’s Creek is a “bad person” but there are tropes within it that point to broader ignorance around racism and classism that are clearly manifesting in dangerous ways in American society.
